Northrise Farms Update!
Infrastructure
Farm House, Workshop and Ablution block
The contractor is currently working on final touches. He is most likely to hand over these structures at the end of this month.
Poultry
Fully roofed.
Will be fitting curtains, electrical fittings, feeders and the water reticulation system soon.
Pump house
The pump house has been constructed and equipped.
Irrigation system for Bananas.
The irrigation system for bananas has been installed.
Boreholes
Two of the three bore holes that were drilled at the farm have been equipped. These are the borehole number one, for farm structures and borehole number three, for irrigation and are pumping water into the over head tank and reservoir respectively.
Power extension
An electrical power line has been erected on the farm. This runs from the transformer to the banana fields and the boreholes. Power has also been supplied to the workshop, farm house and ablution block. Provisions for power supply to the chicken coop have also been made.
Road Net Work
A road from the Ndola – Kitwe high way to the farm was made during the last rain season.
Farming Activities
Bananas,
Two hectares of bananas were planted in the second week of January this year. There are plans to establish another two hectares around November.
Beans
Two hectares of common beans were been planted this year. A hectare in one of the fields which was previously earmarked for bananas and another has been inter planted with the bananas.
